Thesis Supervisor
Learn how to use the Thesis Supervisor for contextual feedback, questions and draft assistance across your thesis.
The Thesis Supervisor is a thesis-wide AI assistant that can help you think through your work, ask questions about your thesis and develop draft material using the current thesis context.
Opening the Thesis Supervisor
Open a thesis section
Go to the chapter or section you are currently working on.
Click the graduation cap icon
Use the graduation cap icon on the left side of the section.
Open the Supervisor panel
The Thesis Supervisor chat opens on the right side of the workspace.
How context works
The Supervisor conversation belongs to the thesis as a whole. When you open it from a section, Academly also provides the current chapter and section as context for the conversation.
- One Supervisor chat is maintained per thesis
- The current chapter can be included as context
- The current section can be included as context
- You can continue the same conversation while working across the thesis
Asking the Supervisor a question
Enter your question
Write the question or instruction you want the Supervisor to work on.
Add a file if needed
Attach a supported file when additional material is relevant to your question.
Send the message
Submit your message and wait while the Supervisor processes the request.
Review the response
The response appears as formatted text in the chat and can be used as feedback or as a starting point for further work.
Attaching files
You can attach additional files to a Supervisor message when the material is relevant to your question.

Working with draft cards
For some requests, the Supervisor can return draft content with actions that let you move the result into your thesis.
- Save as a new section
- Replace an existing section
- Continue editing the draft in the chat
Replacing an existing section
Replacing a section changes existing thesis content. Academly asks for confirmation before the replacement is applied. Review the draft and the target section carefully before confirming.
Current interface labels
Some Supervisor actions may currently appear in German, including Als neue Section speichern, Bestehende Section ersetzen and Im Chat weiter bearbeiten.
