    Discussion Builder

    Learn how to generate a discussion section using content from selected thesis chapters.

    Discussion Builder helps you develop a discussion from content that already exists in your thesis. Instead of searching external sources, you choose the thesis chapters that should be used as context.

    Open the discussion section

    Go to the thesis section where you want to generate your discussion.

    Click the sparkle icon

    Use the sparkle icon on the left side of the section.

    Open Create with AI

    The Discussion Builder panel opens on the right.

    Selecting source chapters

    Choose the existing thesis chapters that should be considered when creating the discussion. The chapter list shows available chapters together with their word counts.

    • Select one or more relevant thesis chapters
    • Use the Recommended indicator as guidance where it is shown
    • Check the word count to understand how much existing material is available

    Choosing the output length

    • Short: approximately 500 words
    • Medium: approximately 1,000 words
    • Long: approximately 2,000 words

    Generating the discussion

    Select the relevant chapters

    Choose the thesis content that should form the basis of the discussion.

    Choose the length

    Select Short, Medium or Long depending on the amount of discussion content you want to create.

    Click Generate Discussion

    Start the discussion generation.

    Review the generated section

    Read the generated discussion in the thesis editor and revise it to match your own interpretation of the findings.

    Interpret the results yourself

    A discussion should explain what your findings mean in relation to your research question and academic context. Review the generated text carefully and make sure the interpretation reflects your own reasoning.

    Student Points

    Academly checks whether enough Student Points are available before starting Discussion generation. If there are not enough points, the generation is blocked and the interface displays a corresponding message.
