    Uploading Documents in Academly

    Uploading documents is the foundation of working with your own academic sources in Academly. Uploaded PDFs can be processed and made available for thesis, research and source-based AI features.

    What this section is about

    When you upload a PDF, Academly processes the document so its text and bibliographic information can be used throughout the platform. This allows supported features to work with the sources you have selected.

    When you should upload documents

    • You have collected research papers for your thesis
    • You want to use a book, article or academic paper as a source
    • You want Academly to work with specific literature
    • You are preparing to use source-based thesis or research tools

    How to upload a document

    Open My Library

    Go to your document library in Academly.

    Start the upload

    Choose the option to upload a document or drag and drop a supported PDF into the upload area.

    Select your PDF

    Choose the academic document you want to add. Upload limits depend on your current Academly plan.

    Wait for processing

    Academly processes the file, extracts available text and reads document information required by supported features.

    Check the document in your library

    After processing, the document appears in your library together with available information such as title, page count and processing status.

    After the upload

    • The document becomes available to supported Academly tools once the required processing is complete
    • Extracted text can be used by source-based thesis and research features
    • Available citation metadata can be used when working with references
    • You can return to My Library to review or manage the document

    Important notes

    Text extraction depends on the quality of the PDF. Scanned documents or image-based pages may provide less reliable text. Always verify important information against the original document and only upload material you are permitted to use.
