Sources and evidence help you verify where source-based thesis content comes from. Academly can connect generated text to supporting quotes, PDF material and citation information.
How evidence is created
Evidence can be created when you generate source-based content with Theory Builder or Methodology Builder and when you accept supported Fox AI suggestions.

Evidence indicator
Sections with stored evidence display an Evidence indicator next to the section title. The number shows how many evidence items are connected to the section.
Opening evidence
Find source-based content
Open a section that contains generated content with citations or stored evidence.
Open the evidence
Click a citation in the text or use the Evidence indicator next to the section.
Review the supporting material
Use the Evidence panel to compare the generated statement with the available source material.
Quotes
The Quotes tab shows supporting text excerpts connected to the source-based content. Use these excerpts to understand why a source was connected to a claim and to verify the wording against the original document.
PDFs
The PDFs tab lets you inspect the source document connected to the evidence. The Evidence panel can be resized to give you more room while checking the source.
Understanding page numbers
The page shown in the Evidence interface can include the document page offset. This means the displayed bibliographic page number may differ from the physical page position inside the PDF.
Verify page references
Before submitting a citation, compare the page information shown in Academly with the original source. Printed page numbering and physical PDF page positions are not always the same.
References chapter
The References chapter is maintained automatically from the references connected to your thesis. In the current thesis workflow, the automatically generated reference list uses APA7 formatting.
How to review evidence
Read the generated statement
Identify the claim or passage you want to verify.
Open the connected evidence
Use the citation or Evidence indicator to open the Evidence panel.
Check the quote
Compare the supporting excerpt with the statement in your thesis.
Open the PDF
Review the original source and surrounding context when necessary.
Verify the citation
Check the document information and page reference before relying on it in the final thesis.
Evidence supports verification
Evidence is designed to make source-based writing easier to verify. It does not remove the need to read and check the original source yourself.
