Methodology Builder
Learn how to generate methodology content using academic sources and information about your own research approach.
Methodology Builder helps you draft methodology content directly inside a thesis section. It works similarly to Theory Builder but also lets you describe your own research approach.
Opening Methodology Builder
Open the methodology section
Go to the section where you want to write about your research methodology.
Click the sparkle icon
Use the sparkle icon on the left side of the section.
Open Create with AI
The Methodology Builder panel opens on the right.
Topic or focus
The Topic / focus field is prefilled with the current section title. You can edit the field if the section should address a more specific methodological topic.
Your Approach
The optional Your Approach field lets you add details about the research design you actually plan to use. This can help the generated methodology reflect your project more closely.

Methodology Builder provides the same source selection options as Theory Builder.

Generating methodology content
Review the section focus
Make sure the Topic / focus field describes the methodology section you want to create.
Describe your approach
Add your own methodological details in Your Approach when they are relevant.
Select your sources
Use automatic selection, manual selection or literature search to prepare supporting material.
Generate the methodology
Start the generation from the Methodology Builder panel.
Review the result
The generated methodology is written directly into the current section and can then be edited in the thesis editor.
Your methodology must match your actual research
Review the generated methodology carefully. Do not describe procedures, samples or analytical methods that you did not actually use.
